More info

How it's built.

The Pitch

Box scores tell you who got the shots. They don't tell you who was efficient, who was unlucky, or who is playing better than their point totals.

StatScout puts the advanced numbers (expected goals, GAx, xGF%, Corsi, high-danger chances, and GSAx) next to the familiar totals, and renders every one as a percentile you can read at a glance. Sort the league and tap a name to see where a player stands.

StatScout+

Leaderboards, filters, and full percentile profiles are free. StatScout+ is available monthly, yearly, or as a one-time lifetime purchase, with a 7-day free trial on subscriptions. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and vary by region.

What Mattered

Percentiles over raw numbers. "94th percentile" is easier to read than "1.29 ixG/60", so the color bar is the main interface.

One tap to the profile. Any row in any list opens the full player page.

How stats stay current. During the season, StatScout checks for newly published numbers after every night's games and updates as soon as they arrive, so percentiles reflect the games just played.

History in the bundle. Older seasons ship inside the app, which keeps year-over-year comparisons instant and offline-friendly.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about the app.

Is there an NHL stats app for iPhone with advanced stats?

Yes. Hockey Edge: Puck StatScout ranks every NHL skater and goalie on expected goals and advanced percentiles such as ixG, GSAx, xGF% and Corsi, next to the familiar box-score totals.

What is expected goals (xG) in hockey?

Expected goals estimate how likely each shot is to become a goal, based on shot quality such as location and type. StatScout turns xG-based metrics into percentiles so you can see who creates and allows the best chances.

GSAx (goals saved above expected) compares the goals a goalie allowed with the goals expected from the quality of shots faced. StatScout shows it as a percentile alongside high-danger save percentage.

How often are the NHL stats updated?

In season, the app checks for newly published numbers after every night's games and updates as soon as they arrive. Every screen shows which games the numbers include.

Is Hockey Edge: Puck StatScout free?
